Reveleer VBC Report: AI Adoption Is Outrunning Governance

What happened

Reveleer published its 2026 State of Technology in Value-Based Care report and the finding making the rounds is a governance gap: essentially universal AI adoption on paper, but more than 60% of health organizations reporting that they lack the operational maturity to validate what their AI systems produce. The report also notes that capitated value-based contracts have roughly doubled since 2021, adding procurement complexity on top of the AI question.

Why it matters for hospital/HealthTech buyers

"Everyone has AI, almost nobody has AI governance" is one of the more honest lines to come out of the VBC vendor community in a while. It maps to what hospital operations leaders already see in the field: pilots proliferating faster than the frameworks to evaluate them, unclear ownership of model performance, and a widening gap between the vendors talking about AI and the internal teams responsible for validating AI outputs.

Our take

Hospitals do not have an AI adoption problem, they have an AI trust problem. The organizations pulling ahead are the ones that stopped adding pilots and started standing up model validation, data quality, and outcome measurement as core operating functions with named owners. That is boring work and it will never make a keynote, but it is the work that determines whether the next capitated contract makes or loses money. Vendors that pretend governance is the customer's problem are going to see their sales cycles get longer. Vendors that ship with governance artifacts, validation kits, and honest performance monitoring are going to close faster and renew at higher rates. The market is quietly rewarding humility.
